13th July Re-opening of the club

Dear Member and Local Resident,

In conjunction with Welsh Government guidelines the club intends to reopen for business on the above date. Opening times will initially be Mon - Fri from 14:00 to 19:00 and Sat-Sun 12:00 - 19:00. Opening hours may be adjusted subject to agreement by the General Committee (GC) and the willingness of staff to work extended hours. The club will only provide a service to customers who are seated outside on the clubs tables and seating. Furthermore, as the weather forecast for next week looks good, together with neither the Lewis Arms or Kings Arms re-opening at this time, the GC is unsure of the number of customers to expect. Although we would like to welcome everyone to join us for a drink, we initially intend limiting customers to those who are already members of the club and their close family. No new membership applications will be accepted during this initial period.

Although all of us are looking forward to returning to a degree of normality I'm sure we will also share some level of apprehension. The GC has worked hard over the past few weeks in preparing for this time but I'm sure once our customers arrive, and we experience the reality of the situation, we may realise we could have done some things differently. We will be pleased to listen to your suggestions but we ask that you remain patient until improvements can be made and treat our staff with courtesy. We also request that as you will be sitting outside, with possibly walkers passing by and neighbours enjoying time in their gardens, that you please keep noise levels to a minimum. When you arrive at the club you will see the outside has received a face-lift, including cleaning all UVPC and the patio, painting benches, weeding, cutting the hedge, grass, etc. Our players have given up their time to do most of this work, together with other club volunteers and we thank everyone for their efforts. We have purchased patio heaters and are considering the purchase of an awning/small marquee. Further options for providing increased weather-protected outdoor space is being investigated. The GC is also developing plans for future phases of reopening, including indoor service once permitted. For now, however, we look forward to seeing everyone return to the club to enjoy a well deserved drink whilst abiding with the following COVID 19 rules. One request we ask is if you experience symptoms of COVID 19 prior to attending the club please postpone your visit and self isolate until you are tested.

Enforcement of compliance with COVID-19 related restrictions

- All patrons will be expected to comply in full with current COVID-19 related restrictions and the adjustments to Club rules to ensure the health and safety of all club users and staff.

- This includes maintaining full 2m social distancing between members of separate households at all times.

- In circumstances where restrictions are not being complied with, individuals may be asked to leave the premises and/or the bar will be closed.


- To ensure safe operation on reopening, numbers of patrons will be strictly limited to the outdoor seating capacity, as determined by the GC.

- Patrons will not be served unless they are seated at a table on seating provided by the Club and provide their table number.


- Members will be required to sign-in upon arrival by providing their name, membership and telephone number. A flip chart will be placed at the main entrance to the patio for this purpose. This is a requirement for Track and Trace purposes.

Drinks Service

- Drinks and bar snacks will need to be ordered and paid for through the use of an app, providing your table number. The app is being supplied by the   clubs till provider and will have the facility to accept this information.

- Drinks will be delivered from the bar to a designated table near the patio entrance

- Drinks are then to be collected by the purchasing patron and returned to their table for consumption.

- Drinks cannot be purchased and consumed anywhere other than at the designated Club seating.

- Empty glasses are to be returned to a bin near the front entrance of the club.

- Arrangements have been made to ensure members continue to enjoy preferential prices. Initially, however, for simplicity of operation, the GC intend to charge purchases at social member/OAP prices. A credit to ordinary (full) members will be provided in the future.


- The lounge toilets are not available for the use of patrons.
- Entry to the toilets will be via the patio doors, into the main bar, with direction signage to guide you.
- A “one in, one out” policy is to be maintained for use of the male, female and disabled facilities.
- A 'one-way' system will be used, with floor markings to assist patrons to adhere to social distancing requirements. Ladies should exit the toilet through the fire door at the back of the club, turn immediately left and walk around the car park end to re-enter the patio. Gents should exit the toilet via the changing room doors.

- Anyone wishing to use the disabled toilet should seek assistance from a member of staff.


- One member of staff will be dedicated to fulfilling the cleaning schedule at all times, including the cleaning of tables and chairs between uses.

- Access to indoor areas of the Clubhouse are strictly prohibited to patrons, except for the use of the toilets.

- New arrivals to the club should not sit at tables until they have been cleaned following use by the previous customer.
