New Club Chairman

The club is pleased to announce that Garry Samuel has been elected as interim Chairman as Bob Hannah's highly successful period at the helm comes to an end . Perhaps Garry won't be seen quite as often as his predecessor on his nightly visit to sit on the stool at the corner of the bar , but is very keen to involve himself far more with the club after being an ardent supporter over the past few years.

His rugby pedigree is second to none . Capped for two seasons as outside half / centre for the Welsh Schools while a pupil at Ystalyfera Grammar , then on to represent the great academy of rugby at Cardiff training College in Cyncoed; after leaving - joined Cardiff mainly as a scrum half where he was understudy to none other than Gareth Edwards , before moving to Pontypridd to ensure regular first class rugby.

Subsequently he had highly successful periods coaching those two clubs as well as a three year stint in Ireland coaching Ballina on the West Coast.

His experience as a schoolmaster at Heol y Celyn junior and Pontypridd Grammar will stand him in good stead when dealing with the M& J's , and he has first hand knowledge of the politics of Welsh Rugby after serving as a development officer for the WRU over a period of ten years.

We as a club are very fortunate to have someone of Garry's experience to take us forward over the next year or two.
