Brian Davies

With great sadness we send this message to inform you that Brian Davies - one of the most popular and influential persons in the whole history of Pentyrch Rugby Club passed away quietly but suddenly last night in hospital at Llantrisant at 79 years of age.

Brian had a distinguished and highly successful career with many of Wales's leading clubs - but Neath primarily - and won three caps for Wales back in 1962/ 1963. His talent as an outstanding and extremely fast centre deserved more.

He joined Pentyrch in the seventies and became an inspiration to generations of players young and old , completely changing the attitude to training and preparation for games . Everyone without exception over the years have sung his praises for his great contribution to the club and the wider community -with Cantorion Creigiau, Clwb y Dwrlyn and Creigiau 23 amongst those fortunate enough to have had Bri amongst them with his contribution as a member and friend The rugby club has always a special place for Bri, and even through these difficult past months he was always keen to come up to meet everyone , and was with us as recently as last Wednesday enjoying the chat , the company, and his pint of cider . It's a huge loss to us all - mainly of course to Enid , Kate and the family to whom we offer our very warmest condolences . But we have all lost a very special person , a true friend to all . He will be greatly missed.
